Adwin David Brown

Adwin David Brown aka Ah Dween the Poet a pioneer of the flow, vibe, and spoken word culture, is an accomplished author, composer, painter, Billboard Top Ten recording artist, and creativedgeYOUcator. A long-time resident of Inglewood, his creative journey began when The Wood was a racetrack and drive-in town where neighborhood garage bands jammed. Brown immersed himself in American standards, classical, country, rock, R&B, and the surrounding funk and Mariachi flavors.  A graduate of Loyola Marymount University where he created The Flow Show for LMU’s KXLU’S 88.9FM, Brown apprenticed in Leimert Park with Sunji Ali’s Frontline Poets, at the Anansi Writers Workshop and the legendary Fifth Street Dicks. In 1992, he created Peace and Fire, a flow and groove performance band before fronting the acid jazz group Bluezeum in 1996, coining the term “flowetry” to describe the sound of the group and dropping the international hit and video,  “Can I Get That Funk?” Bluezeum’s Portrait of a Groove was followed by the Billboard charting Put Your Mind on Hold in 1999. In 2005, Brown founded Flowskool a creativedgeYOUcation program catalyzing community, creativity, compassion, and curiosity.  Since its inception, Brown has conducted and facilitated work and playshops helping countless students, corporations, spiritual centers, churches, and educational institutions find their flow.
